The Food Development Centre is organizing a one-day seminar entitled “Plant-Based Ingredients and Applications”. The Seminar will be held at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on March 21, 2019.

The seminar will focus on processing technologies and applications for plant-based ingredients with an emphasis on proteins. There is increasing demand for plant-based proteins globally, placing Western Canada in a unique position to process many of its crops such as canola, soybean, pea, hemp and oat into protein concentrates and isolates.

Participants will learn about protein extraction technologies, co-products, protein functionalities and quality, applications in food and the regulatory considerations to gain a competitive advantage in working with plant ingredients.
