Manitoba continues to advance its public procurement best practices through alignment with Value-Based Procurement models. Shared Health and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority are taking steps towards implementing a fully integrated Value Analysis Program focused on supporting innovative solutions addressing systematic challenges.

Join us for an opportunity to engage directly with healthcare supply chain leaders, procurement and value analysis specialists to better understand how they are delivering value to Manitoba patients and healthcare workers; understand their challenges and how you can contribute to the overall success of Health System Transformation in Manitoba.

Get to know the speakers:

Jay Singh:

As a Regional Director Supply Chain Management (WRHA) and actively engaged as Provincial Lead for Integrated Supply Chain Management Project to develop Shared Health, setting the base for single provincial contracting governance model for healthcare and beyond, Jay’s approach for smart, agile, innovative supply chain moving Manitoba healthcare toward value-based procurement and C.Q.O. based procurement models.

Jay’s distinguished background includes Healthcare Supply Chain, Surgical Review, ERP System Implementation, Pharma-Political lobbying, Software Development/Training and the financial and retail industry.

His education includes an Executive Masters of Business Administration, Organizational Management, Software Engineering which provides him the unique ability to identify, leverage and develop talent. Throughout his career, he has helped clients, peers and colleagues recognize their unique capabilities and position themselves as “A” players by addressing career strategy, leadership development, professional positioning and visibility.

Brenda Weiss: Brenda has been working in our healthcare system for over 30 years. In her early career as a front line nurse in specialty areas such as Critical Care, Child and Women’s Health, Surgery including Ophthalmology and Organ and Tissue Donation. Brenda has held several leadership positions managing collaborative interdisciplinary teams and working with a wide range of stakeholders, including patient organizations, health policy-makers, clinicians, educators and health system administrators.

Brenda is passionate and driven to actionable ways to improve the health care experience for people that receive care and those who are involved in its delivery. Most recently, she was seconded to the Integration Manager role for Shared Health, Clinical and Preventive Services Plan and over the past year and a half has worked with all 11 Provincial Clinical Teams in designing network models of care and prioritizing clinical planning.

Susan Deering: Susan is the Director, Procurement Services at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.  Susan has held various roles in her 27+ years in supply chain.  Susan provides procurement leadership and direction throughout the WRHA and Shared Health.   She guides procurement activities for all categories with an annual spend greater than 400 million dollars.

Glenn McLennan: Glenn is the Chief Financial Officer and Provincial Lead Administrative Support Services at Shared Health. Prior to joining Shared Health, Glenn was the vice-president and chief financial officer at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. He is a chartered professional accountant and a certified management accountant. Glenn’s career in the health-care sector spans over 30 years where he established a wide range of financial and administrative support service expertise. Glenn is a current member of the HEPP Board and a former member of the Diagnostic Services of Manitoba Board.

Ruth Sawatzky: Ruth is a graduate of the Business Administration diploma program and holds her certification in Supply Chain Management and the Osgoode Pubic Procurement Law and Practice. She has over 30 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management both in the public and private sector of which for 17 years she was employed with the Government of Manitoba. For the last three and a half years Ruth has held the role of Director of Contracts at Shared Health.

Audrey Mulla: Audrey is currently the Director of Contracting Services at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Audrey’s role has evolved over her 25+ years in Healthcare Supply Chain. She is now leading the development of Value Analysis Services as part of her overall responsibilities to support the Health System Transformation in Manitoba. Audrey is a member of the Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) and she serves as active member on the CADTH Device Advisory and the HealthPro Clinical Contract Advisory Committees.
