The Role

The Director, Development will collaborate with senior management, internal teams, and external vendors to develop our medical device software, hardware and data assets. The ideal candidate will be hands on as well as a strategic thinker, with a passion for innovation and the communication skills to present ideas to a variety of stakeholders. We require an individual who is organized and thrives in the challenging environment of creating and developing new technology. The development team is a small group of highly skilled personnel. The ideal candidate will leverage these resources to their full potential, while continuing to build out the team with talented individuals that embrace our culture and velocity.


Lead the development and delivery of high-quality, on-time technology projects, services, and products to meet business strategy and objectives.
Recruit, lead, and develop our growing team of developers and data scientists.
Develop and evolve a deep understanding of how our business and industry works, and how technology relates to business opportunities, needs, and goals.
Work closely with the Product and Science teams to identify opportunities in the sleep science space and create innovative solutions that extend Cerebra’s competitive advantage.
Ensure the establishment and implementation of procedures to develop and implement state-of-the-art algorithms for sleep analysis, including application of A.I. and machine learning.
Ensure the security and privacy of our clients’ data, by adhering to industry-standard cybersecurity and privacy practices.
Oversee the implementation and management of internal and external IT infrastructure.
Initiate, promote, and enforce best practices in development methodology and documentation.
Work with our regulatory team to develop and comply with regulated medical device industry.
Participate in business planning as the senior technology expert within senior management.
Lead budget planning and management for the department.

Skills and Experience

What you'll need to succeed

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
9+ years’ experience in engineering or software development roles.
5+ years’ experience in product leadership roles.
5+ years’ experience managing, recruiting, and training technical staff.
Experience in leading Agile or similar software development methodologies.
Excellent organizational, leadership, analytical, communication and decision-making skills.
Experience in a fast paced, start-up environment.

What we would love to see

Experience in data science or artificial intelligence is a huge plus.
Experience working in the medical device industry or other regulated industries.
