Laboratory Technologist I

BioScisionLabs is seeking a Laboratory Technologist I to join their team.

BioScisionLabs is a cannabis-focused analytical chemistry laboratory providing services to
several Stakeholders within the Canadian cannabis industry. The job entails working directly with
Cannabis and various Cannabis products.

The Laboratory Technologist I will have technical knowledge in chemistry and analytical
sciences as it pertains to the operation and maintenance of HPLC-UV, HS-GCMS, ICP-OES, LC-MSMS,
and/or GC-MSMS equipment and assays. Experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and method validation is an asset.

Reporting and Supervision
• This position is supervised by the Laboratory Managers, QC Analytical
Scientist, and the Chief Science Officer/Head of Laboratories
• This position reports directly to the Chief Science Officer/Head of Laboratories

Key Responsibilities
• Fill technical roles as needed during routine sample processing
• Review and report daily sample results, conduct out-of-specification investigations
• Writing, revising, training and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures
• Perform assay development, optimization, validation and troubleshooting
• Perform routine equipment calibrations, maintenance and documentation
• Ensure that safety guidelines (WHMIS and Biological Safety) are followed at all
• Operate with respect to the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and
company/client privacy policies
• Complete various daily checklists
• Other duties as required/assigned

General laboratory duties
• Maintain laboratory records and inventory
• Preparation of chemicals and reagents as required
• Maintain a clean workstation
• Daily/Weekly laboratory cleaning duties
• Wash laboratory glassware and tools
• Organize and store all chemicals and reagents accordingly
• General and chemical waste disposal
• Destruction of completed controlled samples
•  Other duties as required/assigned

• Diploma or Degree in a Chemistry-related program
• Experience in Analytical Chemistry of natural products is considered an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent manual dexterity and ability to stand for longer periods of time in the
• Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position
(PHIA/privacy policies)
• Must successfully complete WHMIS training
• A criminal record check will be performed

• Full-time permanent position (approx. 35-40 hours/week)
• Starting wage of $24+/hour, depending on education and experience
• 4% vacation pay, paid out biweekly
• Must complete a 6 month probation period
• Enrollment in the company’s benefit plan (3 month waiting period)
