XiteBio’s IRD (Innovation, Research & Development) Centre develops unique inoculant & biological product lines and brings them to the Canadian, US & international markets to benefit farmers’ bottom lines. XiteBio offers products like XiteBio SoyRhizo for soybean; XiteBio PulseRhizo for pea, lentil & faba bean; XiteBio Yield+ for oilseeds, cereals & legumes; XiteBio Tuber+ for tuber crops; and XiteBio OptiPlus dual inoculant for soybean. XiteBio is currently seeking a full-time Agriculture laboratory technician in their IRD division at the Winnipeg, MB facility.
The technician will be responsible for agriculture microbiology and plant science related lab and growth room activities, including (not limited to): quality control & quality assurance (QA/QC) of products; maintenance & monitoring of instruments; laboratory maintenance & inventory management; culturing, plating & maintenance of pure microorganisms; experimental planning & set up; growing & harvesting of plants; lab analysis and routine maintenance of aseptic conditions. Suitable candidate should have strong commitment to accuracy & team environment, detail-oriented, methodical and organized as well as flexibility to work extended hours when necessary for research work. Good computer competency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, Publisher and Outlook is required. Conversant with social media is an added advantage.
A degree or diploma in agriculture, plant science, soil science, microbiology or biology, with adequate experience and a valid Manitoba driving license is required. Farming background or knowledge in Canadian farming would be an asset.
This is a full-time permanent position; salary will depend on candidate’s education and experience. XiteBio offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Job location will be at the XiteBio’s IRD Centre at Winnipeg. There is no public transport to the facility and employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from work.
