Genomic Centre for Cancer Research and Diagnostics (GCCRD)

The Genomic Centre for Cancer Research and Diagnosis (GCCRD) (https://www.cancercare.mb.ca/Research/research-institute-at-cancercare-manitoba/genomic-centre/index.html) is a Regional/National Facility for all cutting edge imaging applications. The GCCRD is part of the Research Institute in Oncology and Hematology, CancerCare Manitoba , and the University of Manitoba.

Activities of the GCCRD include projects in molecular biology, cell biology, histopathology, and genetic diseases. The goals of the GCCRD are basic and translational research, as well as the education of students and highly qualified personnel in genomic instability, cancer genetics and imaging.

Technical capabilities:

The GCCRD is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and the technical capabilities of the GCCRD are diverse, but complementary. They include Live cell imaging, Spectral Karyotyping (SKY), Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH), Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques, confocal microscopy, super resolution imaging (SR-SIM and PALM) and 3D imaging and analysis.

Services:

The GCCRD is training students and highly qualified personnel. The GCCRD holds two workshops, a beginner’s workshop in the fall and an intermediate/advanced workshop in the spring. Please see our training program website for more details. In addition the GCCRD offers a wide range of services from sample preparation, imaging to data analysis.

The GCCRD is member of the Canadian Network of Science Platforms and the Flowcytometry Association and the 3D Imaging Node for Canada.
