VA Angels investor group to launch chapter in Winnipeg

One of the biggest and most active angel investor group in Canada is going to start to get busy in Winnipeg.

VA Angels, formally Venture Alberta Forum, is launching chapters in Winnipeg and Kelowna in November.

VA Angels was recently chosen by Harvard Business School as one of only two angel groups in Canada to participate in a study on global angel investment activity.

The group has done 57 deals for $28.3 million since 2003.

The Winnipeg chapter will be run by Mark Francis, the Western Canadian Advisor for the Canadian National Stock Exchange. Francis has been with the Canadian National Stock Exchange since 2003 and is a veteran business consultant.

Randy Thompson, VA Angel CEO and founder has had plenty of exposure to the Manitoba market over the past few years, participating in several events featuring pitches from entrepreneurs seeking investors.

Angel investors are seen as a key element for businesses to finance growth after they have exhausted the assistance from friends, family and loved ones.
