TRLabs Announces Brand Name Change to TRTech

December 04, 2012 -- TRTech announces that the company's brand name has been changed from TRLabs to support its evolution from an applied research organization to an organization that enables commercialization for its industry partners.

The re-naming reflects the company’s commitment to providing a one-stop innovation service offering to industry, where access to talent, business connections, and leveraged investment – with resulting IP industry owns – generate meaningful acceleration of innovation into the market.
“A refreshed name is a recognition that times have changed,” said Robert Tasker, President & CEO, TRTech. “Faster production cycles, global competition, and tight capital markets have made industry focus, the shorter-term, and aggressive enablement of commercialization, imperative.

Tasker noted that a name change is part of deeper re-energizing around a mission to grow industry through information & communication technology innovation, and builds on the organization’s proud 26 year innovation legacy, including 453 technologies adopted for use by companies, hundreds of collaborating companies and organizations, and an important role in building a competitive western Canadian information and communications technology sector.

TRTech as a name was previously a contract innovation services arm of TRLabs. All organizational activities now fall under the umbrella of the single TRTech name.

The TRTech service offering to industry closely aligns with natural stages of the commercialization process, and consists of the following: market requirements identification; technology assessments; applied research; proof of concept; prototyping/integration; and take to market services. TRTech’s core strength remains technical development capability brought to bear on applied research, proof of concept, and prototyping projects.
