Bioscience Association Manitoba Launches the 2019 Industry Profile Study

Bioscience Association Manitoba (BAM) is proud to announce the release of the Bioscience Association Manitoba 2019 Industry Profile Study – the comprehensive analysis of the contributions our province’s bioscience companies are making to the local economy.

Bioscience companies in Manitoba provide key solutions to challenges in health, agriculture, food and the environment. This study presents concrete data that provides industry and stakeholders with a greater understanding of the size and economic impact, the level of investment to the industry and the subsectors, how companies envision their growth and the challenges they face.

“The industry makes significant contributions to Manitoba’s economy. We need to continue working with our partners to achieve optimal success and ensure more people benefit from the solutions and contributions from our community.” – Tracey Maconachie, President of Bioscience Association Manitoba.

The information gathered is used to inform BAM’s training programming, develop projects focused on key needs of the industry such as workforce development and to measure the impact of programing.

Key highlights from Bioscience Association Manitoba’s 2019 Industry Profile Study

  • $7.5 billion in contributions to the total provincial GDP
  • $9.3 billion made in total annual sales & revenues
  • 14,437 Manitobans are currently employed in the industry
  • Over 50% of industry’s workforce hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D
