StarFish Medical CEV Winnipeg Ventilator Design Wins Gold in 2020 International Design Awards

StarFish Medical announces the CEV Winnipeg Ventilator design team wins Gold in the Industrial And Life Science Design / Medical/Scientific Machinery category of the 2020 International Design Awards (IDA) competition. The 2020 winners were announced by IDA today.

StarFish Medical designed a Health Canada certified ventilator in 6 months (normally a multi-year effort). The design was constrained to speed development of a system that is easy to use, manufacture, and accessible to both developed and developing nations alike. The project was developed for the Canadian Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic as a multi-mode ICU ventilator that could save patients’ lives, be manufactured locally in the shortest time possible, and not disrupt the supply chain for existing ventilators. It is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Magdy Younes.
