Tracey Maconachie – President

As President of BAM, Tracey provides leadership, growth, and support. She acts as the voice for Manitoba’s bioscience community, advocating for its success, listening to its needs, and enabling it to enter stronger business environments.

In all that she does, Tracey has five cornerstone objectives: stimulate economic growth, develop strategic partners, build broad awareness, expand industry skills and knowledge, and position BAM as a world-class life science organization. 

Tracey believes Manitoba’s  bioscience community can help feed, heal, and fuel the planet in sustainable responsible ways, addressing the needs of an expanding and growing population. 

Prior to BAM, Tracey worked for an international leader in the pharmaceutical industry. For twenty years, she worked with the government, patients, and other businesses to form new partners, helping uncover and achieve their shared goals. Tracey believes success is best achieved by working together, and welcomes any opportunity to collaborate.

Kim Kline – Training and Development Manager

Kim Kline is passionate about seeing others succeed. She believes in the benefits of professional development and is a keen and avid adult learner, living by the motto: "You will never cease to grow if you develop a passion for learning."
 
As BAM’s Training and Development Manager, Kim evaluates, develops, and implements all of BAM’s training objectives. She plans which training events BAM will hold, who will teach them, and how they will benefit BAM Members. In her role, Kim helps foster a stronger  bioscience network in Manitoba.
 
Previously, Kim worked as the Learning and Development Specialist with Western Financial Group, and as the Corporate Trainer and Customer Education Specialist with Xerox. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan and is currently attending the Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education (CACE) program at the University of Manitoba. Kim is also certified in Adobe Captivate 9 E-Learning.

Fay Hartwick – Office Manager

Fay has a keen interest in sharing knowledge with others. She enjoys building and developing individuals and organizations, and is interested in improving agricultural techniques. 

As BAM’s Office Manager, she is the bond that holds BAM’s structure together. From assisting with the financials, collaborating with coworkers on events and conferences, and acting as the personal assistant for the President, Fay keeps the office running smoothly and efficiently.

Fay has a Management Development certificate and recently completed her Project Management certificate from Red River College. Prior to working with BAM, Fay worked in the Training and Development sphere for 13 years, where she spent 3 years as a Program Manager for a corporate leadership university.

Allan Kotz – Membership Services Manager

Allan is very passionate about the biosciences industry in Manitoba. He has an avid interest in science, technology, and agriculture. He implements what he’s learned to help the members he serves succeed. As the Membership Services Manager, Allan’s primary responsibility is to ensure member satisfaction with the organization through communication. Allan brings a strong science and agriculture background to the team.

Prior to joining the team at BAM, Allan was a graduate student in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Manitoba, where he obtained his M.Sc. in the field of rumen microbiology following his B.Sc. in Microbiology. Allan also has previous experience in the areas of sales and marketing.

Tharmala Tharmalingam - Program and Project Manager

Tharmala is passionate about helping the bioscience industry prosper in Manitoba. She strongly believes that Manitoba’s bioscience sector has a lot to offer. As the Program and Project Manager, Tharmala’s primary responsibility is to organize events designed to bring members of the life science industry together to facilitate discussion and networking.

Prior to joining BAM, Tharmala was a Senior scientist and group lead in the Cell Line Development group at Amgen in California. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Microbiology at the University of Manitoba. Subsequently, she was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institute of Bioprocess Research and Training and University College Dublin. Over the course of her career, she has helped organize multiple events and chaired at multiple conferences.
