Manitoba creates New Protein Consortium to further Province's Protein Advantage Strategy

The consortium brings together members of the plant and animal protein value chains, to provide leadership for a path to position Manitoba as first in class in sustainable protein industry development. 

The consortium is a group of eminent leaders in the upcoming animal/ plant protein industry, like, Tracey Maconachie (President, Bioscience Association Manitoba), Kristen Tapley (Ducks Unlimited Canada), Dickson Gould (President, Progressive Group of Companies), Sav Bellissimo (Federated Co-operatives, Saskatoon), James Battershill (Founder, Juno Food Labs), Emily Murray (GM, Cargill's McDonald's beef patty business), Dr. Emma McGeough (Assistant Professor, Animal Sciences at University of Manitoba) and Neil Cunningham (Director, Climate and Clean Technology).

The Manitoba Protein Consortium will have a focus on three main activities:
•    providing advice to the minister, industry, academia and other stakeholders on implementing the Manitoba Protein Advantage;
•    engaging with stakeholders to define sustainability and create metrics to quantify Manitoba’s sustainability advantage; and
•    ensuring that stakeholders are accountable for specific actions under the Manitoba Protein Advantage.
