3D BioFibR Enters the Bioprinting and 3D Cell Culture Market with the Launch of Two CollaFibR™ Tissue Engineering Products

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#3DBioPrinting--3DBioFibR, a leading innovator in tissue engineering, announced today it is launching two new collagen fiber products, μCollaFibR (pronounced micro-CollaFibR) and CollaFibR 3D scaffold. Made using 3D BioFibR’s proprietary and new dry-spinning technology to create collagen fibers at commercial scales, these off-the-shelf products offer significant advantages for tissue engineering and tissue culture applications and are now available for sale, to the scientific and medical communities at www.3DBioFibR.com.



μCollaFibR is a bioink additive for use in 3D bioprinting of tissue and organ models in a laboratory setting. μCollaFibR mimics the body’s natural cellular scaffold and acts like a biological rebar in bioinks used to print living tissues. When added to bioinks, μCollaFibR improves the mechanical durability of printed tissues so multiple cell types can be assembled layer-by-layer to produce highly functional tissue and organ models.

The advantage of the CollaFibR scaffold is that it uses GMP type 1 collagen to produce a consistent collagen fiber matrix that resembles the biomechanical and biochemical properties of natural cellular environments.
