Significant Support for Aplantex From the Quebec Government, Investissement Québec and Canada Economic Development

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mr. Patrick Charest, B.Sc, P.Eng, CEO of Aplantex is pleased to acknowledge the significant support of the Quebec government, Investissement Québec and Canada Economic Development for its innovative and proprietary process and solid business plan, with combined support totalling $500,000. "Together with the funds raised in the first round of financing, and with the research and production laboratory already operational, this support will contribute to the ongoing implementation of the first production line, as well as to further planning for large-scale commercial production," says Mr. Charest.

"Aplantex is now moving from research to commercialization, which is exactly what our government is doing for innovative Quebec companies. The biotechnology it is developing will help reduce the environmental footprint of the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and agri-food sectors," emphasizes Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy, Minister responsible for Regional Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Greater Montreal Area.

"By following the principles of the circular economy, Aplantex is making the winning choice of relying on ecoresponsible production to foster its growth. We are proud to support a company like this one, which shares our government's commitment to the sustainable development of Montérégie and all of Quebec," adds Suzanne Roy, Minister of Family and Minister responsible for the Montérégie region.

"By supporting Aplantex, our team is proud to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the Montérégie region, in addition to promoting our expertise in the biopharmaceutical, cosmetics and agri-food industries worldwide. By rethinking the way we produce and consume, particularly by promoting the circular economy and adopting clean technologies, we can build a greener, more prosperous Quebec," says Guy LeBlanc, President and CEO of Investissement Québec.

"The interest of companies whose products contribute to the well-being of people in terms of health, beauty and nutrition is real. Thanks to Aplantex, they are able to simplify their supply chain sustainably, obtain inputs at a cost that is competitive with other production methods, while working in accordance with the principles of environmental and social governance," concludes Mr. Charest.

ABOUT APLANTEX

The Aplantex scientific team has developed a unique process to produce certified high-value molecules that enjoy strong demand from major players in many industries. The core of this green biotechnology process for efficient and sustainable phytochemistry consists of the continuous production in a controlled environment of biomass originating from photosynthetic plant replicators. This abundant biomass is dried and the extraction, fragmentation, and purification stages allow the separation of the specific molecules essential to the production of popular products in the health, beauty, and food industries.

The photosynthetic plant replicators can store up to 40% of their dry weight of atmospheric CO2 and, in Quebec, can be grown year-round in a controlled environment using sustainable hydroelectric power. With its eco-friendly process, Aplantex is thus a preferred supplier for any company looking to comply with ESG criteria.
